Hypothesis
Inhibitory transcranial stimulation of right parietal cortex — 10 Hz alpha tACS or cathodal tDCS — would shift spatial attention bias (pseudoneglect) on a line-bisection task.
What failed
In experiment 1 (n = 20), alpha tACS produced the expected rightward shift relative to sham, but a direct replication (experiment 2, n = 20) did not confirm it, nor did the combined sample. Cathodal tDCS and 45 Hz tACS had no effect.
Broken assumption
A single session of parietal alpha tACS reliably shifts spatial attention bias.
Why
The paper points to the known weak effect sizes and high inter- and intra-individual variability of transcranial stimulation, and calls for adequately powered replications.
